August 23rd .NET Valley Meeting! August 18 2006 Upcoming Meeting: August 23rd The next .NET Valley meeting will be held on Wednesday August 23rd at Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke PA. A map of the campus can be found here. We will meet in building 7, room 703. The event will begin at 6pm. Giveaways and raffle will follow. Presenting for .NET Valley will be Jason N. Gaylord, a Microsoft MVP, leader of the .NET Valley User Group, and ASPInsider. Understanding Membership and Profiles in ASP.NET 2.0 (6:00pm - 7:45pm) Three of the most useful features in ASP.NET 2.0 is the Membership, Role Manager and Personalization providers. During this presentation, we'll pick apart each of these APIs and the controls that they contain. We'll also see ways to use this to our advantage by creating custom providers. VSIBuilder Version 1.0 Released August 17 2006 I needed a way to programatically create a vscontent and vstemplate file for a few large web projects. So, I created a VB 2005 app that does just that. Earlier today I decided that I'd clean it up a bit, throw in a sponsorship plug, and create a click once deployment package so that others in the community can download and use it (if they really would want to). Non-Technical: Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta Wants Illegal Immigrants Out June 22 2006 If you have not seen this story yet on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, or any other national news station, you can see it here. Hazleton PA (about 30 minutes from my house) is one of the first cities to approve regulations to stop illegal immigration. [TOP]

No TechEd for Me - I'll be on vacation! June 05 2006 Unfortunately I will not be at TechEd to hang out with any of my friends (which I can probably count on one hand ). Fortunately, I will be sitting on a beach somewhere enjoying no cell phone or laptop. I will probably check in with the TechEd folks later in the day each day but I won't be checking email regularly.
